Caprese salad

The Italian tricolor on the plate. Caprese salad is probably one of the main symbols of Italian cuisine.

Caprese Salad has born on the island of Capri in the first post-war period, as a poor dish made up of typical local products.

Serving = 1 pax – Prep. Time = 5 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 gr. buffalo mozzarella
  • 1 big red oxheart tomato
  • basil leaves
  • 2 sp. extra virgin olive oil
  • salt & pepper

DIRECTIONS

Bring the mozzarella to room temperature by placing it in a water bath in warm water for 10 minutes.

Cut the tomato into 1 cm thick slices, sprinkle with salt and leave to rest for 5 minutes. Then drain it from excess water.
Cut the mozzarella into thick slices like tomato.
On a plate pour an oil base, arrange over tomato slices alternating with mozzarella slices. Insert a basil leaf with each pair of tomato and mozzarella.
Season with plenty of oil, salt and pepper.
